Diplomas at TFS | Print |

We offer a mandatory International Baccalaureate and other diplomas as well.

All students at TFS prepare for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. All our Senior School students pursue the compulsory International Baccalaureate Diploma (and more than half of our IB diploma recipients choose to pursue a bilingual IB diploma). TFS is one of the few schools in Ontario where students can pursue a Bilingual IB.

The IB is a prestigious international diploma which acts as a passport to the finest universities in the world. TFS students are particularly successful at obtaining the IB Diploma.

In addition, TFS students have the opportunity to pursue the "Brevet des Collèges" Diploma in Level II. This French National Exam is identical to the exam written by students in France and our success rate is extremely high.

Diplôme National du Brevet des Collèges
TFS students have the opportunity to assess their level of French by taking an examination aimed at students in France. This external examination, administered by the Ministry of Education in France, takes place at TFS at the end of Level II.

To prepare for the Brevet, TFS students must take two Arts courses and a third language in Levels I and II. Since this program requires continuous and serious work, students should seek the advice of their teachers, guidance counsellor, Principal and the Director of French Studies who will register TFS students during the first term of Level II.

Students in France who are in the classe de troisième– equivalent of Level II – and students of the same age group who attend one of the 250 French schools around the world follow this course of study and sit the examination for the Brevet. The Brevet is awarded by the French Ministry of Education on the basis of performance in this examination written in the second week of June and on TFS internal assessment. The academic and linguistic goals of the Brevet program contribute to the development of bilingualism at TFS. In addition, students are provided with a first experience of examinations set and evaluated externally.
