Mentoring Program | Print |

What is a TFS mentor?
When you become a TFS mentor, you agree to be contacted by current TFS students in Level IV or V.  We will share the contact details you provide (email, phone, other), along with relevant information on your academic, personal and professional experience.

What is expected of mentors?
A TFS mentor serves as a resource for students nearing graduation. They may have specific questions about academic programs, schools, career path or more general questions about where you study, work or live.

What is the benefit?
Sharing your experience is an easy way to give back and support young people.  By becoming a mentor, you are also keeping in touch with the TFS network.  Our plan is to build and extend the mentorship program to include alumni peer mentoring and reverse-mentoring (a student helps you out with an issue, such as a question about new technology). This network is a valuable and important resource.

How do I sign up?
Signing up to be a Mentor is easy. It will take about 5 minutes!
1. Login to the Alumni Directory
2. Select Edit Mentor Profile, (listed under Profile Options)
3. Fill out form, save and logout.

When will I be contacted?
We are in the process of building our roster of mentors.  Mentors will be contacted once we have informed students about how to use the network. We will keep you posted.

What if I am not contacted/over-contacted?
Initially, we don’t expect to have any issue with mentors being over burdened with contact from students.  However, if this becomes an issue, simply contact our Alumni Relations Coordinator, Verle Thompson at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we will temporarily remove your details from view.  If you are not contacted, be patient.  The value of the TFS network is the diversity, and it may take some time before the ‘right’ connection is made.
