Assemblies Recognize TFS’ Athletic Best

On June 2nd, the Athletic Assemblies held at the Senior School celebrated great athletic performances by students from Grade 4 and up.

The Junior Assembly included students from the Junior and Senior Schools, Grade 4 through Level I. Highlights from the fall season included the Junior Cross-Country team named the CISAA Overall Co-ed champions for the seventh year in a row, and the Under 12 Girls Basketball team Tier 1 championship, a first in TFS’ history.

Winter sports saw the Junior Co-ed Swim team win the Under 11 championship, and place 2nd overall, and the Girls Artistic Gymnastic team miss the CISAA Overall championship by a mere three points out of 300. This spring, the Jr. Track & Field team achieved not only the Overall Co-ed championship, but also the Under 11 Girls championship.

From the many outstanding personal accomplishments, the Junior Athletes of the Year were named. They are: James H and Ann-Merrie L., both Level I students.

The Senior Assembly got off to an enthusiastic start with the Junior Girls Basketball team, the Division 1 champions, taking to the stage. Not only champions, they completed their fall season without once being defeated. The wintertime Senior Girls Volleyball team, meanwhile, achieved another TFS first by taking part in the OFSAA championship. Spring saw another girls’ team become champions, this time the Girls Under 20 Soccer team who were named to the top of CISAA Division II, after three years as Under 16 champions.

Finally, the Senior Athletes of the Year were announced. Described as “outstanding leaders and outstanding people,” they are: Timothy S., Level IV student and Athletic Prefect, and Danielle C., a Level III student.

Congratulations to the Most Improved, Most Sportsmanlike and Most Valuable Players, and to all their dedicated coaches!
