Let’s Make Terry Fox Proud!
On Friday, September 25th, regular activity across both campuses will stop for a very special event: La Journée Terry Fox à TFS.
Starting at 1:30pm, all students from SK to Grade 7 at the Mississauga campus will take part in a run or walk at nearby Searson Park. On the Toronto campus, everyone from our youngest members in PK to those in Level V will do their part. Parent volunteers and staff will be participating and supporting the event at all branches.
The PK, SK and Grade 1 classes will walk on-site at Mildenhall, beginning at 2:15 pm, while the Grades 2 – 5 will run/walk to Wanless Park, led by our Chief Operating Officer, Richard Taylor. Meanwhile, the lengthier (5km) Senior School version will be fronted by Headmaster Dr. Godfrey, with a snack and water stop en route at a TFS family’s home.
Before those feet start moving, though, there will be assemblies, fun warm-ups with music, and, at the Toronto campus, an inspiring talk given by TFS parent and cancer researcher Dr. Richard Wells. Dr. Wells, a scientist with the Odette Cancer Research Program at nearby Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, will talk about cancer research and how some of his funding came from the Terry Fox Foundation.
But to make this event another great TFS success, we need you! Please log-in to www.communique.tfs.ca and visit the Events page to learn how you can volunteer for TFS' special run or make a donation online.
