Mississauga Campus Parents Hear All About the Senior School

On April 14th, a group of parents from TFS’ Mississauga campus travelled to the Senior School to hear about student life at 318 Lawrence Avenue East. The parents who visited have children in grades from SK to Grade 7 in Mississauga, and all were keen to understand what the Senior School has to offer and how their child would adapt to this larger school environment.

After enjoying breakfast in La Terrasse, the parents listened to introductory remarks from Headmaster John Godfrey, and presentations made by Principal Heidi Gollert and the Dean of Student Affairs, Kim English. Topics covered included the curriculum, student resources, co-curricular activities and overall student life. Most important of all, though, the parents got to hear from two Level IV students, who had attended TFS in Mississauga and continued at the Senior School.

Tina S. and Basil S. gave their impressions of the School and answered questions.  Said Tina of life at TFS’s Senior School: “We have so many more opportunities here, because the grade sizes at TFS are so much smaller. My friends (who go to high school in Mississauga) don’t even know everyone in their class.”

Finally, both Tina and Basil accompanied parents as they toured the School with Student Ambassadors Devon S. and Mackenzie E., no administrators allowed! As an indication of their degree of interest, the parents’ bus back to Mississauga was scheduled to leave at 11: 15 am; it was still waiting for them over 45 minutes later.
