New Co-Curricular Opportunities at the Junior School and Mississauga Campus

You might think winter would dampen certain sporting activities, but at the Junior School, new co-curricular sports are sprouting up everywhere! At Mildenhall, the new co-curricular activities, which began last Monday, include SK – Grade 1 floor hockey and basketball instructed in French, Grade 1 tennis and SK indoor soccer. Meanwhile at 296 Lawrence, new options include art dramatique for Grades 4 and 5, where students will learn excerpts of plays by French playwrights, as well as hone their drama skills. Also at 296 is the new Model UN option for the Grade 5 students. This is a younger version of the very popular Model UN club at the Senior School; Junior School participants will develop an understanding of political and economic issues at the international level, helping to prepare them to become global citizens.

On the Mississauga campus, renowned co-curricular favourites include the dance troupe, which performs every year at the Mississauga BBQ, and woodworking.  New on the co-curricular menu are a book club for Grades 2 and 3, charades for Grades 3 and 4, and an international fashion show club for students from JK all the way to Grade 7. The international fashion show club will be exactly that – a look at the various national costumes of the ancestral homelands of the students, and will involve a research component as well.  Activities at the Mississauga campus will begin on January 25th.
