Exciting New Co-curriculars on Offer This Fall
As students at TFS know, education is about way more than hitting the books. It’s about all the wide-ranging co-curricular activities and sports teams they can get involved with, to make them well-rounded citizens engaged in a vibrant, wider world.
On September 16th, Clubfest was held in the Multi-purpose Room at the Senior School. The always spirited and highly popular event featured tables manned by representatives of all the clubs on offer this school year. Those clubs new to the scene include Mathletes (conducting math workouts), Studio Arts, Karate, Saving Endangered Animals, Film Club, Dungeons and Dragons, and last, but not least, Conversations en française.
With such an incredible array of club offerings, teachers and guidance counsellors are on hand, as always, to help students narrow their selection, ensuring students maintain a good academic/non-academic balance.
The Junior School used to offer three co-curricular sessions of eight weeks each. These have now been replaced with four, six-week, sessions. Said Delphine Vieira, Vice-Principal, “It’s a better fit with our school year, taking place before and after our November break, and also before and after the March break.”
The new activities at the Junior School are Choir, for students, staff and parents, Flag Football, Fashion Design and Pottery. At Mildenhall, Chess for the SK and Grade 1 students was added and has met with great success. Last year’s Junior School Family Yoga program is also continuing due to popular demand.
The Mississauga campus will continue to offer its co-curricular “greatest hits” this fall, which have proved so popular in the past, while also investigating fresh co-curricular content to add to the roster.
