Senior School Dance Show a Sold-Out Success
Friday, January 15th was another chilly winter night, but inside the MPR at the Senior School, the music was hot and the dancers energized for TFS’ 2010 Dance Show.
This year’s organizers, Chloe R. and Taylor L., along with the dance crews, decided not to have a theme for 2010. Instead, they wanted to highlight the amazing talent of our many students through a dizzying array of dance styles and music, from tap and jazz, to hip hop and Bollywood.
The high energy, choreographic talent and inspired dance moves lasted through 12 routines to music including an Inspector Gadget remix, a ballad by UK sensation Adele, and selections from Kardinal Official, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, among others.
However, all this entertainment had a more serious purpose; the proceeds from this evening, and from the accompanying raffle for a diamond peace necklace donated by Mark Lash Fine Jewelry, were given to charity. Said Chloe R. about their choice of charity, “We all took a vote and ended up with Trillium Camp. It’s a week long summer camp for children undergoing cancer treatment. We thought it was the perfect fit because we wanted to support a group close to our age and Trillium goes a step beyond by offering families who have worked so hard to support their young ones a break from all the stress.”
In total, the Dance Show, along with the raffle and Casual Day proceeds raised an astounding $4,639.81 for Camp Trillium. Responding to the terrible news coming out of Haiti, the organizers also set aside a donation box to raise funds for that country, receiving $331.17, which will be added to TFS’ other efforts.
Congratulations and well done to Chloe and Taylor, the trio of MC’s, the dance crews, technical staff and staff supervisors, Ms. Bryndza, Ms. Larose and Ms. Mihaljevic!
