Senior School Math Contests Results Now In!

As you may recall, on February 18th, in the depths of winter, 100 students from Levels I through III at the Senior School voluntarily participated in the Canadian Mathematics Competition. Organized by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo, the contest comprised of three tests: the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat, for Level I, II, and III, respectively.

Now as we welcome spring, we also welcome the results from those competitions. Congratulations to our three medalists: Chloe L. in the Pascal, Douglas C. in the Cayley, and Elvin Y. in the Fermat!

The tests were designed to assess logical thinking and mathematical problem solving skills, rather than common curricula of knowledge.  In 2009, 37,240 students in total from 664 schools in Ontario took part and wrote one of the three contests.
