On May 7th, TFS took part for the first time in the Ontario Secondary Schools Spanish Contest, held at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus. Sina M., Kayla M. and Bianca B, all Level II Spanish students, proudly represented TFS from among the 45 independent and public schools, and 180 student participants.

After completing a written and oral test, Sina M. emerged victorious in the Beginner category, receiving a trophy, which will reside at TFS for one year, a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship.  Kayla M. and Bianca B. also performed very well.

In addition to the competition itself, the day included a Mexican feast, a roving Mariachi band, a Spanish-language karaoke event and a tour of the St. George Campus. Said Clara Pacheco, Spanish teacher at the Senior School, “Our students did a fantastic job, and it was a real fiesta!”
