Winning Gold, Silver and Bronze at the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair On April 4th at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus, all TFS students participating in the judged portion of the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair walked away with one precious metal. Every single project was declared a gold, silver or bronze medal winner.

In total, seven students from Grade 7, four from Level I, and five from Grade 6 (not judged) took part. The students presented their winning projects from TFS’ own Science Fair, which took place at the end of February. Each project display explained the student’s topic, hypothesis, the scientific method used to test that hypothesis, and the concluding results.

One such project, from TFS Level I student Avalon O., won not only a gold medal but also the OAML (Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories) Award in Medical Laboratory Sciences. Her project described the effect of electromagnetic fields on DNA.

The Toronto Sci-Tech Fair is open to all students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 who attend public, separate or independent schools, or are home-schooled, in the City of Toronto. Approximately 500 students from across the city displayed their projects at the Fair.
