Sebastien Centner, ’90 – at TFS from 1984 to 1990

Sebastien came to TFS in 1984 as a Grade 7 student. In between studying he found time to play sports and was a member of the basketball team.  Sebastien dedicated many hours to the 1989 yearbook, and modeled in the A la Mode fashion show, a fundraising event to raise money for the 1990 Level V formal. Sebastien is perhaps best remembered for having created the Giles Hall newspaper L’Express with fellow classmate Jennifer Feikes. A true entrepreneur in the making!

After graduating from TFS in 1990, Sebastien headed to Kings College, in the Maritimes, before continuing his studies at the University of Toronto. He subsequently moved to Cupertino, California, to work at Apple Computers before returned to Toronto to join his family’s hospitality business. His company, Eatertainment Hospitality Inc, is one of the city’s most successful catering and special event companies. It also operates some of Toronto’s best restaurants, including the Bloor Street Diner and Panorama Lounge. Sebastien was awarded “Canada’s Caterer of the Year” by industry professionals and peers in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Another one of his ventures is his award winning In the Round furniture concept, a collection of outdoor furniture designs that promote interaction between guests.

Sebastien is currently offering his expertise to TFS as a volunteer on the committee planning the fund-raising event, Les Vendanges (Link to Les Vendanges story), to be held in November 2007.

"When I look back I realize that my TFS education helped make me the person I am today," says Sebastien. "Education for me did not just come in the form of textbooks and classrooms, it came from relationships, experiences, successes and even failure, each of which I value enormously.”
