Science and Language Events Heating Up across TFS
While the ground remains frozen solid, science and language-based events are heating up at TFS. Starting Tuesday, February 16th, through Friday, February 26th, the Junior School will be holding its Francophone Week, beginning and closing with two Journée Chic. This year, however, the week will also have a special focus on the Vancouver Winter Olympics, with Olympic-themed games held every lunch hour in French, and viewing of key Olympic events in the 296 gym.
On the 23rd, Grade 7 students from both the Toronto and Mississauga campuses, along with Level I students, will have the opportunity to present their individual or group science experiments at TFS’ annual Science Fair.
And on Sunday, February 28th, TFS’s Toronto campus is honoured to host the South-western Ontario Regional Final for the Dictée P.G.L., in advance of the International Final to be held in Montréal in May. La Dictée P.G.L. is a French dictation contest for students in Grades 5 and 6 that helps improve their mastery of written French, heightens their environmental awareness, and teaches them about the lives of children who live in developing Francophone countries. Last year, 52 independent and public schools took part in this competition, so we expect this year’s to be equally lively!
