For the younger grades, outings and events occur throughout the year. Events are varied and include puppet shows, the Magic Suitcase environmental program, winter carnival, visiting authors, talent shows, sleepovers at school, picnics, etc. Outings to the zoo, the Science Centre, art galleries, theatres, and farms are planned for various grades, to tie into the curriculum. In the Junior School, annual concerts are organized at different times of the year depending on the grade.

Every student in the Senior School is placed in one of six “houses” on the first day of school. Houses are one of the ways students get to know people in other grades; some activities are in fact run by houses including Orientation Day events, Spirit Week, and the Ice Cream Social.

Once a year, the Students’ Council organizes a Spirit Week for all Levels. Level V students also organize an activity early in the year for students new to the Senior School. Other social events include school dances held at TFS on select Friday nights.

Some events result from the curriculum. The IB Art Show is an impressive display of visual art held every spring. The Theatre Arts program is very practical and Level II students create children’s theatre productions for the Junior School. Level III students perform for the MAD Festival (Music, Art, Drama) each year. IB Theatre Arts students do two productions over the course of the two-year program.

Each year, a major production is put on. Recent shows include Hair, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Into the Woods. These productions involve many students from all grades in the Senior School. Acting, music, dance and costume and set design skills are all developed.
