A lasting legacy. Bidding adieu to Mme Hafez.

La Guinguette this year was more than games, food and fun: it was an opportunity for the TFS family to share final hugs and emotional goodbyes with Mme Mirna Hafez.
On June 17, students, parents, past parents and alumni celebrated Mme Hafez’s dedication to TFS and the success of the Mirna Farah Hafez Tribute Fund, and the school announced the naming of the Jardin d’éveil Hafez.

The TFS community has contributed a remarkable amount to ensure that this strong message of thanks and well wishes is sent to Mirna and that a legacy to her is created at our school. We have raised an astonishing $1,042,100 in honour of Mirna Hafez, a true testament to the love and gratitude students, parents, past parents and alumni have for her.

Leading the way were two families: a lead gift of $250,000 from Simon Chong and Adriana Gonzalez-Chong which was matched by Dr. Rita Kilislian and Andy Curnew. Building on this incredible start, alumni, past parents, staff and so many of our current families added their support. If you want to join us in expressing gratitude to Mme Hafez, you can still make a gift today.

Students from the first cohort of Jardin d’éveil were invited to participate by unveiling the plaques dedicating the Jardin program in the name of Mme Hafez. These students, now in Level I, have grown up to be valued members of our student body, and their success, in some measure, is due to their early education at the Jardin d’éveil and La p’tite école.

The Jardin d’éveil, which Mme Hafez founded in 2010, has prepared generations for success at TFS and beyond by providing children as young as two with an introduction to a bilingual education in a caring environment.

While Mme Hafez’s warmth and passion will be missed by the whole TFS community, the impact of her work will endure – touching both the lives of the students she met and instilled with the confidence and life skills to thrive, and the lives of future generations who will benefit from her initiatives, including the newly named Jardin d’éveil Hafez.
