Provincial Top 8 for DECA entrepreneurship innovation plan

Senior School students Lily Z., Christy X., and Delaney Y. just placed in the top eight provincially for their entrepreneurship innovation plan for DECA.
DECA is an innovative extra-curricular program for secondary school students in Ontario. Students learn to develop their confidence, employability, skills and leadership.

Since September, they have worked hard to prepare for the DECA competition held in February.

The three students created a virtual reality driving kit to help people to be more confident when they start learning to drive. Through their app, people can become more familiar with their vehicles and be prepared for oncoming traffic and stressful driving situations.

The girls came up with this idea based on their experience and statistics. For example, in 2016, over 160,000 collisions were recorded in Ontario and nearly 12,000 of them were caused by drivers aged 15 to 18.

They also studied issues such as distracted driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The most challenging part of the project was to turn their idea into reality. They wanted to make a prototype in order to integrate it into their presentation, making their project more realistic and reliable. Congratulations on reaching the top 8!
