Our 2019 recipients of the Alumni of Distinction Awards

We are very proud to announce this year’s recipients of our Alumni of Distinction Awards. Le prix de distinction des anciens élèves acknowledges TFS alumni for outstanding achievements and contributions to society. Click to watch the video.
Julia Bentley received Le prix de distinction des anciens élèves. She is Canada’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, and previously served at Canadian missions in China, Taiwan and India. She’s an exemplary diplomat who speaks five languages and has an immense intellectual curiosity. After graduating from TFS in 1978, she obtained degrees from Princeton University and the University of Toronto, as well as a diploma from Nanjing University.

Rebeccah Love was awarded Le prix de distinction des jeunes diplômés. She graduated from TFS in 2008 and became a well-respected filmmaker and writer with a bright future ahead of her. She holds a Bachelor’s in Film (BFA) from Ryerson University and a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph. 

This Toronto-based filmmaker is considered one of Canada’s important young voices and her work has been screened at film festivals across the country. She is known for creating many shorts, including Acres (2018), Ripe (2019) and A Woman's Block (2018).
