TFS’ Head of School is awarded the Ordre des Palmes académiques by France

Dr. González, Head of School, has been awarded the Ordre des Palmes académiques by France, an honour granted to those who have made significant contributions to the development of French culture.
The Palmes académiques is one of the oldest civil orders, having been created through imperial decree by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1808.

Tudor Alexis, Consul General of France, chaired the award ceremony that was held at TFS in January. Dr. González was presented with the distinction, in the name of the President of the French Republic, by Jean-Gabriel Castel, a veteran of the Second World War who fought as part of the French Resistance.

This illustrious recognition rewards Dr. González’ deep commitment to instilling a love of the French language and culture in our students, as well as the many initiatives he has introduced to build on our school’s historical identity. Whether through creating new partnerships with French schools around the world, or striving to make TFS a home for people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including francophones, he has proven to be a strong advocate of the crucial role of bilingualism and enriched the school’s unique international character.

The entire TFS community has benefitted from these initiatives, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our Head of School thus recognized by France.
