TFS Athletics: Cougars’ Fall Highlights and Championship Moments

In the pursuit of excellence, TFS’ Athletics Department strives to have an innovative and successful athletics program, one that is both a part of the larger commitment to excellence in education and an integral component to student life at TFS.
As a member of the provincial Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) and Private School Athletic Association (PSAA) in Peel region, our athletes continue to grow and develop as individuals and teams. The fall athletics program saw great success in terms of championships and physical development where student athletes clearly demonstrated stellar sportsmanship and attitude both on and off the field/court, a willingness to learn and a personal commitment and overall contribution to their team.

Senior School
Our Senior School athletes had an outstanding fall season. During the first term, more than 200 athletes participated in five sports (soccer, cross country, swimming, basketball and volleyball) for a total of 15 competitive teams.

The U12 girls basketball team enjoyed a fantastic year and final tournament, having gone undefeated all season. These young ladies were crowned CISAA champions after winning the Top 6 Tournament. Our junior girls had a great regular season and brought home the silver medal.

On the trails, our cross-country teams competed on a beautiful sunny day, with the U13 boys running their way to a CISAA championship title and a first finish in their category.

Junior School
The Junior School had 146 athletes who participated in four sports (soccer, cross country, swimming and basketball) for a total of 11 competitive teams. At this level, many students are participating in competitive sports for the first time — with an abundance of determination and hard work. This year, our girls were a part of the inaugural U10 girls league and won their very first championship.

West Campus
At the West Campus, the U12 girls soccer team played incredible defence at their final tournament and ensured their contenders were scoreless. Their determination paid off as they secured their two-year streak as champions! Honourable mentions to our U14 girls soccer and U14 boys soccer teams for their second place standings in their respective divisions.

Our cross-country athletes were resilient as they battled erratic weather conditions during the PSAA championships. The U13 girls not only mentored our younger athletes, but their outstanding performance led them to a victory as U13 girls cross-country champions.
