Level IV students win second place at the DECA competition
This is the second year that our students have had the opportunity to take part in DECA. The mission of DECA is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs, from high schools and colleges around the globe, to work in the fields of marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
The high school division includes 200,000 student members from 3,500 schools. These students compete in 10 different competitive events, covering six different career clusters. The top teams are then invited to the international competition in April. This year, one of TFS’ Level IV teams placed at the provincial level, securing them a spot at the final international competition in Florida. There were 20,000 delegates from schools and colleges around the world, and our team was one of 171 competing in the entrepreneurship innovation plan section.
Christy X., Delaney Y. and Lily Z.’s project was the development of a virtual reality driving home kit that allows new drivers to safely practise driving in dangerous situations. These girls have been so committed to DECA, attending weekly meetings and working diligently over the holiday break to develop a business plan for their app/VR kit.
We are proud to announce that our team won second place at the competition. Congratulations to our entire DECA team!
