Celebrating our visionnaires. An event to remember (two years in the making)!

This generous community gathered together in May for an intimate evening of cocktails, canapés and lively conversation in our newly revamped cafeteria, La Terrasse. 

Co-hosted by Norman Gaudet, Head of School, and Sander Grieve, Chair, TFS Foundation (who joined us virtually), La Reception des Visionnaires marked the first official parent and donor visit to the new space. Thanks to the many generous donors to the ‘A Seat at the Table’ campaign, La Terrasse is now a state-of-the-art facility that serves more than 1,500 students across both campuses daily, with improvements that mean more efficiency, less crowding and an enhanced experience for hundreds of students who dine there every day. 

We were grateful for the occasion to honour a remarkable group of donors whose collective efforts have transformed our school, and whose commitment makes a direct and positive impact on the day-to-day experience of every child at TFS. Cathy Yanosik, President, TFS Foundation, expressed our deepest thanks to leadership donors, including Max and Coralie Koeune and the Shah family, whose early backing was vital to the La Terrasse renovation.

Judy Goldring was recognized not only for her generous gift of $250,000 to support La Terrasse, but also for her steadfast leadership of the TFS Board. Judy’s contributions as a volunteer, particularly as TFS Board Chair at the onset of the pandemic, was invaluable, and TFS is honoured to recognize Judy and her family with the naming of the Goldring Boardroom at 306 Lawrence Avenue.

A highlight of the evening was the naming of Comptoir Sprott, the renovated servery at La Terrasse. With their latest gift to TFS, the Sprott family’s contributions have now surpassed $1 million, across both TFS campuses. The Sprott family has played a vital role in the shaping of TFS, with three generations involved as board members, senior volunteers, engaged parents and current and former students. With Comptoir Sprott at the Toronto campus and La Bibliothèque Sprott at West Campus, the Sprott family’s generosity touches each and every one of our students, and TFS is grateful to have these indispensable student spaces named in their honour. 

La Réception des Visionnaires also provided an opportunity to celebrate another TFS community milestone: the Class of 2021 Fund becoming the largest Class Fund in the school’s history. Thanks to the remarkable efforts of a committee of parents led by co-chairs, Stephanie Thompson and Josie Marrano, parents of graduating students raised over $112,000 to support the TFS Scholarship program and improvements to the Level V Lounge.
