We are pleased to announce that MaryClaire Brooks has been appointed President of the TFS Foundation beginning November 10, 2025.
A seasoned fundraising professional, Ms. Brooks will play a key leadership role in advancing the school’s philanthropic mission. Her experience and vision will strengthen the Foundation’s impact and guide our fundraising efforts to ongoing success.
A leader in philanthropy with local and international experience in education
Ms. Brooks brings with her a wealth of experience in the fundraising world. She joined Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2018, leading advancement efforts for the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, including access to education and experiential opportunities for students, major academic initiatives and capital projects. Prior to TMU, she worked as a consultant, developing national partnerships at SmartSAVER (Omega Foundation) to help low-income students build RESPs through philanthropic support and government grants. Ms. Brooks has extensive international experience, including having served as Senior International Major Gifts Officer (Europe) for Babson College in London, UK.
Her earlier roles include Head of Fundraising at Ark, an international children’s charity improving education for children in England, Uganda and India, as well as positions at King’s College London/King’s Health Partners, the International Center for Transitional Justice in New York, and at the American Civil Liberties Union in New York and Seattle.
Building on the Can’t Wait! Campaign
As President of the TFS Foundation, Ms. Brooks will lead the school’s fundraising efforts, nurture our culture of philanthropy and continue to build on the momentum of the Can’t Wait! Campaign, which has, to date, raised $31M of our $40M goal.
Reflecting our commitment to a more integrated and strategic approach to serving the community, Ms. Brooks will also lead a newly established organizational entity: the Office of Advancement. This office brings together three key branches—the TFS Foundation, the Department of Communications and Strategic Planning, and the Department of Marketing and Community Engagement—into a cohesive structure designed to amplify impact and strengthen connections across the entire TFS community.
Philanthropic continuity with new perspectives
Ms. Brooks said, “I am thrilled to join an international school environment where academic excellence, international perspectives and community spirit come together to enrich student learning.” While her experience and passion resonate with the TFS values, her expertise will be instrumental in advancing our school’s mission through philanthropy that benefits every student.
Under her leadership, we will work to ensure TFS remains at the forefront of philanthropic leadership, enhancing programs and opportunities across the school community that shape the TFS experience.
We are looking forward to welcoming Ms. Brooks into the role on November 10, 2025, following November Break, allowing for a smooth transition with Cathy Yanosik who will remain at TFS, acting as a Special Advisor to the Foundation, until she retires at the end of January 2026.
