TFS Receives PASCH Accreditation and Welcomes German Delegation
TFS joins a distinguished global network committed to promoting German language learning and establishing an international educational exchange.
TFS is pleased to announce its official accreditation as a PASCH school after a special ceremony took place at the Senior School with representatives from the PASCH organization presenting TFS with a recognition plaque, formally marking our membership in this worldwide community.
What is PASCH?
PASCH, which stands for “Schools: Partners for the Future,” is an initiative that inspires young people to learn German and connects schools worldwide that are committed to high-quality German language education. The PASCH mission supports institutions such as TFS that place a high value on German by providing guidance to educators to develop strong German programs. Today, the PASCH network includes over 2,000 schools across 120 countries, creating one of the world’s most dynamic international ecosystems for language learning and cultural exchange.
Earning this accreditation reflects the strong drive that TFS students demonstrate in their language learning. Their already existing bilingual foundation in French and English allows them to grow as plurilingual and multilingual learners, ready to access additional languages with confidence. They actively identify and pursue opportunities that connect them to the TFS value of developing multilingual, critical thinkers.
Celebrating German Language and Learning
To commemorate this milestone, TFS welcomed several guests. The consul General of Germany in Toronto, Anne Wagner-Mitchell, along with representatives from the Goethe-Institut. We also welcomed Luna Simão, a German singer of Angolan heritage. Accompanied by her guitarist, she performed songs of her own for students. Afterwards, the artists and students exchanged ideas in English, German and even a little French, a conversation that highlighted multiculturalism, artistry, music and the value of learning German.
At TFS bilingualism serves as a stepping stone to multilingualism. Beginning in Grade 6 within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, students may choose to study Mandarin, Spanish or German as additional Languages. These languages can then be continued into the IB Diploma Programme, where students may pursue it at various levels. German IB courses emphasize communication and cultural literacy, enabling students to engage with German-speaking cultures while meeting the IB’s academic standards.
