  • Academic ambition

What is academic ambition? It’s the will to improve constantly, a desire to do one’s very best, at every grade level. And the way we teach this is just as unique as our curricula of France and Ontario through the framework established by the IB programs.
    • We educate students from age 2 to Grade 12.
    • Read more about each of our branches – La p’tite école (age 2 to Grade 1), Junior School (Grades 2 to 5) and Senior School (Grades 6 to 12).
    • We offer a highly successful Introductory French program for students entering the school from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 7 who have little or no knowledge of French.
  • All-round development of students as individuals and citizens

Athletics, arts, co-curricular activities, trips and leadership opportunities are all part of the rich educational experience for our students. Read more here.
  • Activities extraordinaires

    • As a member of the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA), we offer many competitive opportunities in soccer, gymnastics, cross-country, swimming, hockey, golf, basketball, softball, rugby, tennis, track and field, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and more.
    • Students have many ways to become leaders – in student councils, through co-curricular activities and societies, and through student-led events, such as the 2017 CAIS Student Leadership Conference and the ever-popular dance show.
    • Trips and exchanges at TFS are thoughtfully created with attention to students’ needs and interests, and real-world ties to learning. Read more about trips and exchanges.
  • Resources and services

Our students’ environment is complete with tools and resources to deepen their learning, and a variety of services to make the lives of our families easier and integrated into school life.

  • Facilities

The Toronto campus is situated on 34 acres at Bayview and Lawrence Avenues, which includes 26 acres of the Don Valley ravine. The ravine is a true living classroom for students of all ages who visit and learn to value this natural landscape on a regular basis.

Among the school’s facilities are a competition-sized indoor pool; a regulation-sized artificial turf Play & Sports Field; a gym in each branch; a multi-purpose room with full stage, exceptional sound and lighting systems; digital studios; art and dance studios; and state-of-the art science labs and classrooms.
  • On-site child care

    • Available for students up to Grade 7 on a yearly or as-needed basis
    • Child care supervisors provide care in French and English
    • Options include before- and after-school child care, supervised study (Étude) for Grades 1 to 7, and child care on Professional Development Days
  • Transportation

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, TFS encourages carpooling. The school offers a web-based service to assist parents in coordinating car pools to and from both campuses. This secure, third-party system matches TFS families with similar travel requirements.
  • Lunch matters

We know that one of the most anticipated times in any given school day is lunch! Hot lunch is included in the program for students in our Jardin d’éveil (age 2) and Pre-Kindergarten.

An optional hot lunch program is available to students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5. The Senior School has a full-service cafeteria called La Terrasse, which serves breakfast and lunch daily, with lunch options including a salad bar, homemade soups, made-to-order sandwiches and hot entrée items.

The Parents’ Association also organizes regular pizza lunches for students on the Toronto campus.
  • Textbooks

Parents of students from PK through Grade 5 rent textbooks from the school. Charges for renting the textbooks range from approximately $40 for PK to $460 for Grade 5.

Students in Grades 6 through 12 (Level V) at the Senior School purchase their textbooks through The Canadian School Book Exchange (CSBE), in addition to paying a resource fee of $150. Parents can order new or used books online or by phone. Orders are delivered directly to the parent’s home or office before the first day of school.

CSBE also gives students the opportunity to hand in used books in June for resale online to other students on a consignment basis. Parents also have the option of donating used books, with the proceeds from the sales of these books eligible for a tax receipt from TFS.
  • TFS uniform

All students wear the TFS uniform. Uniform items are available for purchase, in person or over the phone, at the TFS Shop located on the Toronto campus.

The TFS PA also holds used uniform sales throughout the year. The sales offer parents the opportunity to purchase gently used uniform items at a savings of 50% or more.
